Today on Music Video Monday: “Electronic Istanbul” by They Might Be Giants
Originally a cover of The Four Lads, They Might Be Giants really made this track their own — over and over again, as a matter of fact. A lot of folks my age remember the animated version of the track making an appearance on Tiny Toons a couple of years ago. (By “a couple”, I mean “too many than I’m personally willing to admit at this time”.) With the release of their second new album of 2011, TMBG put their thing down, flipped it, and reversed it with the repackaged “Electronic Istanbul”, a track that was actually recorded live and utilized a vocoder and, apparently, a Speak ‘n’ Spell.
It’s my favorite track off the new-new album.
